UWP STEVE CARMENTRAN

I was born on 29 December 1980 in Esch-sur-Alzette (L).
I started my diving career in 1997 during a trip on the island of Mallorca where I received my first diving certification. Hobby diver for many years, I started to invest myself more seriously in 2004. After working through the different certification levels in recreational diving, I became CMAS * instructor in 2013 and CMAS ** Instructor in 2015.
Eager to share my passion and the beauty of the underwater world with my friends and the general public, I bought my first compact camera in 2004 and took my first ‘steps’ in underwater photography during a stay in Cuba. Having caught the underwater photography bug, I have been diving with my camera ever since. In 2006, I started using a bridge camera, and in 2010 I took a big step and switched to reflex. Currently I’m using a Nikon D7100 in a Sealux housing and Inon z240 strobes.
I began shoot-out competition photography in 2013. Selected by the Luxembourg Federation to represent my country, I took part in the first International Underwater Photography Challenge of Monaco. I was also proud to  represent Luxembourg at the 15th C.M.A.S. Underwater Photography World Championships taking place in Zeeland (NL) in May 2015, where I achieved two top ten rankings.
I am currently an active diving instructor in Differdange (Luxembourg) where I use my photography to show my students the beauty of the underwater world they are about to discover.
