Born in Milan on 1979 but in love with Liguria since I spent all my childhood and adolescence holydays between Chiavari and Sanremo using mask and fins in order to discover the underwater world. After some years practicing free-diving, I started to like scuba-diving for I can see that magic submerged world closer, deeper and for more time...after some years diving in Italy (Portofino, Santo Stefano, Isola d'Elba) and abroad (Thailand, Egypt, Philippines, Madagascar, Maldives) and after achieving Divemaster certification, I'm trying to join three passions which I find fundamentally important for me: The Sea, Photography and marine biology. My first semi-automatic compact Sealife has been replaced on 2015 from my trusty compact Sony Rx 100, with Isotta housing, that I actually use. With two Sea&Sea strobes and two additional lenses (for macro and wide-angle shooting), I can live the Sea according the way I love to live it, in a very versatile way at any time of the year, thanks also to the possibility of collaborate with an excellent place, for logistics and attention to the Sea, like Diving Evolution, in a fantastic site like Marine Protected Area of Portofino.
In my pictures there's a constant research of unusual situations, sometimes unexpected, discovered and appreciated thanks to a continuous study of biological and behavioral features showed by the main characters of mine underwater wanderings (I recently made the first reporting in M.P.A. Portofino of an invasive alien organism: Percnon gibbesi - Sally lightfoot); in addition to this, I love searching odd expressions showed by Marine life, often lingering on ours connection with the Sea and on the sweetness and intensity of some interactions. On one side, there must be a photographic technique which makes immediately recognizable my pictures and, from the other side, it's the subject itself which concurs to define a unique style: I'm working on it!
My idea is taking pictures that can convey a message that exalts the beauty that we find underwater and the wonder with which we come into contact; at that point, Love (for the Sea itself and its inhabitants) can give a boost to Learn what really is what we interacted with underwater, to cultivate their Respect and then going to Protect...and return to Love him more than before. A splendid virtuous circle that will allow you to return something to that Submerged World that gives us a great deal.
Every moment underwater, every photo I make, every emotion that I share, reflects this moral line: Love, Learn, Respect, Protect.

Milanese di nascita (1979) ma innamorato della Liguria, ho trascorso tutte le estati della mia infanzia e adolescenza tra Chiavari e Sanremo con maschera e pinne a scoprire la vita sommersa. Dopo anni di apnea, ho iniziato ad apprezzare la possibilità di vedere grazie alle bombole quel magico mondo sommerso più da vicino e più a lungo...dopo qualche anno di immersioni in Italia (Portofino, Santo Stefano, Isola d'Elba) e all'estero (Thailandia, Egitto, Filippine, Madagascar, Maldive) e dopo aver conseguito il brevetto di Divemaster, ho cercato di coniugare tre passioni che ritengo per me fondamentali: Mare, Fotografia e biologia marina. La prima compatta semiautomatica Sealife è stata sostituita nel 2015 dalla mia fidata compatta Sony Rx 100, scafandrata Isotta, che utilizzo tutt'ora. Con due flash Sea&Sea e due lenti aggiuntive (una per macro e un grandangolo per foto ambiente), riesco a vivere il Mare a modo mio con estrema versatilità in ogni periodo dell'anno, grazie anche alla possibilità di collaborare con una realtà eccellente per logistica e attenzione verso il Mare come Diving Evolution, in una location fantastica come è l'Area Marina Protetta di Portofino.
Nelle mie fotografie c'è una ricerca costante di situazioni particolari, a volte anomale, scoperte ed apprezzate grazie ad un continuo studio delle caratteristiche biologiche e comportamentali dei protagonisti delle mie scampagnate subacquee (di recente ho effettuato la prima segnalazione nell'A.M.P. di Portofino di una specie invasiva aliena: il Percnon gibbesi - Granchio corridore atlantico); oltre a ciò, adoro ricercare espressioni curiose degli abitanti del Mare, soffermandomi spesso sul nostro rapporto con esso e sulla dolcezza e intensità di alcune interazioni. Da un lato ci deve essere una tecnica fotografica che renda immediatamente riconoscibili i miei scatti e, dall'altro, gli stessi soggetti degli scatti devono concorrere a definire uno stile unico: ci sto lavorando!
L'idea è di scattare foto che riescano a veicolare un messaggio che esalti il Bello che troviamo sott'acqua e la meraviglia con cui entriamo in contatto: a quel punto, dall'amore (per il Mare stesso e i suoi abitanti) può nascere una spinta per imparare cos'è davvero ciò con cui si interagisce sott'acqua, arrivando a coltivarne il rispetto per poi passare a proteggerlo...e tornare ad amarlo più di prima. Uno splendido circolo virtuoso che permetta di restituire qualcosa a quel Mondo Sommerso che ci regala moltissimo.
Ogni momento sott'acqua, ogni foto che faccio, ogni emozione che condivido, riflette questa linea morale: Love, Learn, Respect, Protect.
